Oil Pan

Engine replacement starts with draining engine oil followed by removing the front exhaust manifold pipe. Start by disconnecting the electrical connector that controls the engine oil level sensor then take out the sensor from the pan. Start by removing all Oil Pan bolts while keeping track of the reusable Oil Pan Gasket condition. Removing the gasket from its groove should only happen if necessary repair. After taking off the Oil Pan you should clean it and perform an inspection. When replacing a new Oil Pan seal, remove all oil residue from the groove then guide the seal through the pan in both vertical directions. Position the Oil Pan to the crankcase by using the right fasteners in their designated positions because replacement fasteners need an exact part number for this application. The installation of Oil Pan retaining bolts needs a two-step torque sequence: apply 8 nm (71 lb in) in the first installation then finish with 12 nm (106 lb in). Place the engine oil level sensor inside the Oil Pan while applying 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) torque force then attach the electrical connector to the sensor. Now install the front exhaust manifold pipe while filling engine oil before conducting leak checks after the engine starts.

The repair process starts by draining engine oil and continuing with front exhaust manifold pipe removal and transaxle assembly detachment. Start by removing the Oil Pan bolts yet protecting the reusable Oil Pan Gasket unless there is damage. Only detach the gasket if removal from the groove becomes essential. The Oil Pan removal procedure should be followed by cleaning operations before examining it. To install the new Oil Pan seal the seal groove needs a complete oil cleaning before placing the seal into the groove by moving it along both pan directions. Mount the Oil Pan to the crankcase then add the retaining bolts which must be tightened to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) following the specified installation sequence. After completing the steps reattach the front exhaust manifold pipe then install the transaxle assembly and perform engine oil refilling.

You need to start by draining engine oil and removing the front exhaust manifold pipe for replacing the Oil Pan. First disconnect the engine oil level sensor's electrical connector then remove the sensor from the Oil Pan. Begin by carefully removing the Oil Pan bolts while keeping track of the Oil Pan Gasket status. Place the engine oil level sensor into the Oil Pan by torquing it to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Finally connect the electrical connector to the engine oil level sensor . The first step is to reinstall the front exhaust manifold pipe before oil filling operations and leak tests should be performed after ignition.

Using the J 39505, install the right side oil pan side bolts and tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb ft) + 50 degrees.

Tighten it to 7.5 N.m (66 lb in).

Tighten the oil pan bolts to 14 N.m (10 lb ft).

Apply sealer to both sides of the crankshaft rear main bearing cap and the front cover/block mating area, then install a new oil pan gasket and position the oil pan to the engine.

Tighten it to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).

Only remove it if it is damaged; otherwise, do not remove it.

Take out the oil pan bolts, noting that the oil pan gasket is reusable unless damaged.

Position the oil pan to the lower crankcase and finger start the oil pan bolts.

Take out the oil pan bolts, noting that the oil pan gasket is reusable unless damaged.

Reinstall the front exhaust manifold pipe, fill the engine with oil, and inspect for oil leaks after starting the engine.
