  A: Before installing a new inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module coil begin by disabling the sir system while keeping the wheels in the straight-ahead position and using either the steering column anti rotation pin (J 42640) or setting the ignition switch to lock. To begin the procedure start by removing the wheel from the shaft and extending the tilt lever when the column has a tilt feature and remove both torx® head screws from the lower trim panel to release and remove the panel. To access the upper trim cover you must remove its two torx® head screws before you can remove the cover. After removing the retaining ring from the Steering Wheel column wire harness you should detach wire harness straps and extract the air bag clock spring from the Steering Shaft for disposal when replacing. Installation requires confirming straight wheel alignment and steam column anti rotation pin (J 42640) placement in the lock position or ignition switch installation. When using the existing air bag clock spring ensure correct placement. Start by positioning the new air bag clock spring assembly toward the horn tower of the turn signal cancel cam assembly on the Steering Shaft assembly. Now carefully slide the air bag clock spring onto the Steering Shaft assembly until the retaining ring sets properly into the coil's groove.
