2006 Chevrolet Aveo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2006 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: To remove the Oil Pan, in the first place, you need to peel the negative Battery Cable and unhook the right front wheel and splash shield. Remove the engine oil from the crankcase and disconnect the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S). Remove the catalytic nuts on the lower flange of the Exhaust Manifold and the bolts on the bracket, and lastly the nuts on the front pipe. Remove the Catalytic Converter and Exhaust Pipe as a unit, take out the bolts that are used to fix the Oil Pan to the transaxle housing as well as the bolt used in fixing the transaxle housing to the Oil Pan. Now remove the grommet and the Oil Pan retaining bolts and remove the Oil Pan from the engine block and the Oil Pan gasket. For installation, position the gasket on Oil Pan and install the gasket on the engine block within 5 mins after application of the liquid gasket. Install the Oil Pan retaining bolts to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Replace the old used Oil Pan drain plug washer with a new one and then follow up with a grommet. Make sure that the transaxle housing is securely attached to the Oil Pan through the use of a bolt that is screwed to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.), and then attach the Oil Pan to the transaxle housing, with bolts that are tightened to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Reinstall the catalytic converters and Exhaust Pipe together, tighten the Catalytic Converter to the Exhaust Manifold nut to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.); the Exhaust Pipe bracket bolt to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.); and the front muffler nut to 30nm(22 ft. Lbs.). Relace the right front splash shield and wheel, reconnect the negative Battery Cable, and refill the engine crankcase with engine oil. Connect the ho2s.
