2006 Chevrolet Express 1500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator in the HVAC system on 2006 Chevrolet Express 1500?
A: The first step when replacing the accumulator of an hvac system includes recovering the refrigerant from the a/c system. Start by taking off the Coolant Reservoir while also unconnecting the electrical connection from the a/c low pressure sensor. First disconnect the compressor inlet hose retaining nut from the accumulator while following this with the evaporator outlet hose retaining nut removal. The accumulator removal starts by unfastening the retaining screw from the accumulator retaining bracket then removing both the accumulator and its corresponding sealing washers. For installation of a new accumulator add the designated pag oil volume into the component. The new accumulator needs to be installed with a screw which should attach to the accumulator retaining bracket while under 9 n.m torque (80 lb in). Connect the low pressure sensor electrical connector and position new sealing washers on installation. Fasten the evaporator outlet hose with its retaining nut by using torque to 16 n.m whilst maintaining a force of 12 lb ft. Route the compressor inlet hose and apply its retaining nut while tightening it to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). The last procedure includes reinstalling the Coolant Reservoir followed by system evacuation and recharging and performing fittings leak tests with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
