How to replace the Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS) on 4WD on 2006 Chevrolet Express 1500?

The first step to replace the Wheel Speed Sensor on 4wd vehicles involves properly lifting the vehicle and supporting it before taking off the wheel and tire assembly. Remove brake rotors from all 1500 series vehicles before taking off the wss cable mounting clips from each knuckle, upper Control Arm and frame attachment point. Take off the electrical connector and remove the wss bolt to disconnect the sensor. To safely take out the wss from its spot on the 2500/3500 hub bearing assembly apply gentle pressure not force which could damage the sensor body. Before installation you must plug the wss bore and apply wheel bearing lubricant gm p/n 01051344 onto the hub surface. Clean the wss mounting area with a wire brush and lubricate the sensor o-ring. Place the wss inside the hub/bearing assembly so it rests flat before securing it using the wss mounting bolt tightened to 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). Put back both wss cable fastening points into the frame parts while connecting the electrical wss wiring and putting back the 1500 brake rotor. Reposition the wheel and tire then test all vehicle systems.
