2006 Chevrolet SSR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake master cylinder on 2006 Chevrolet SSR?
A: Set the parking brake then disconnect the brake fluid sensor link to access the brake pipes which need unfastening from the master cylinder. You must use rubber caps or plugs to protect the open brake hose fittings from fluid loss and damage before fixing the brake pipes. Afterward take off the master cylinder mounting nuts and remove the master cylinder unit from the vehicle while draining brake fluid from it. Before putting the unit into place bench bleed needs to be performed on the master cylinder. Install and torque the master cylinder mounting nuts to 36 nm. After that, disconnect the rubber plugs from brake lines and attach the brake pipes. Make sure to tighten each fitting to 17 nm during assembly. Connect the master cylinder fluid level sensor last and perform a brake fluid bleeding process.
