How to replace the front cross-member for the steering gear on 2006 Chevrolet SSR?

The first task to replace the front steering gear crossmember involves vehicle support while raising the vehicle. First detach the front crossmember brace then remove the rear lower Control Arm Bracket bolts connecting it to the frame and finish by taking out the steering gear crossmember mounting bolts. Position the steering gear crossmember first before following all fastener instructions for installation. You should install the steering gear crossmember mounting bolts before tightening them to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). To install the rear lower Control Arm Bracket to frame mounting bolts tighten them to 240 n.m (177 lb ft). Reinstall the front crossmember brace then lower the vehicle.
