2006 Chevrolet SSR Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2006 Chevrolet SSR?
A: One should remove the engine sight shield before cleaning the fuel injectors with compressed filter air and then washing away dirt. Detach the upper engine harness from the Intake Manifold then release pressure from the fuel system. The evap purge valve harness connector should be detached while repositioning the engine wiring harness prior to removing the Fuel Rail crossover pipe and its o-rings and retaining screws and tabs. Mark the electrical connector to the Fuel Injector before performing installation. Then push down on the lower side of the connector and advance the top section carefully until the white area starts to emerge before releasing the Fuel Injector. The Fuel Injector connector release is performed by operating the tab located at the lower edge until the injector disconnects while simultaneously removing the fuel feed line before capping all fittings and installing plugging devices to block contamination. Use proper care to take off the Fuel Rail assembly which must maintain safety of injector electrical connector terminals and spray tips while providing support to the rail. The procedure begins with Fuel Rail bolt removal before proceeding with Fuel Rail extraction together with Fuel Injector detachment. First install the Fuel Rail into its position in the Intake Manifold then apply gm p/n 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) threadlock over a 5 mm (0.20 in) length on the Fuel Rail bolt threads before tightening each bolt to 10 n.m (89 lb in). The procedure requires placing the Fuel Rail crossover pipe and its o-rings alongside retaining bolts and tabs before tightening the retaining screws to 3.8 n.m (34 lb in). Secure the fuel feed pipe and reconnect all electrical connectors of the fuel injectors after making sure they are correctly aligned before they click into position. Reposition the wiring harness of the engine onto the Intake Manifold and reconnect the evap purge valve along with its harness before adding the engine sight shield mounting bracket with bolt tightening set to 5.5 n.m (49 lb in). Connect the negative Battery Cable while inspecting for fuel leaks through the procedures of turning the ignition to on for 2 seconds, off for 10 seconds before rechecking for leaks and engine sight shield reinstallation.
