- Q: How to replace the positive battery cable on 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer?A: The replacement of the battery positive cable starts with disconnecting the battery negative cable. First separate the battery negative cable and afterward remove the battery positive cable from the battery and the positive cable lead from the junction block. The conduit retaining clip allows removal of the Battery Cable conduit but the battery positive cable needs to be pulled free from the conduit. The procedure starts by removing the battery positive cable harness from its position on the fir-tree retainer of the powertrain control module (PCM) bracket followed by disconnecting both the positive cable lead from the Starter and generator . Ready the new battery positive cable in the engine area before completing the cable removal process on the vehicle. Fasten and tighten the battery positive cable to the generator using a nut so it becomes 9 n.m tight (80 lb in). Secure the Starter positive connection with a fitting that needs tension to 9 n.m (80 lb in), following the proper alignment of the connection. The battery positive cable harness should be fitted into the fir-tree retainer on the pcm bracket before placing the cable inside the conduit and attaching the conduit retaining clip. The positive cable needs connection at the junction block while you proceed to fasten it with a bolt that should be torqued to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Stand the battery positive cable in its junction block before turning the positive battery bolt to 15 n.m (11 lb ft) when installing the negative battery connection cable.
