  A: A successful crankshaft balancer replacement requires beginning with Drive Belt removal along with raising the vehicle and installing support features. Begin by taking off the right front tire and subsequent wheel removal then follow it with right engine splash shield dismantle. Position frame jacks to support the frame before easing off the left frame bolts and breaking the right frame bolts to allow lowering the right frame section for accessing the crankshaft balancer. Place the flywheel holder (J 37096) on the torque converter opening before it to stop flywheel rotation. The crankshaft balancer remover (J 41816) needs to be used after removing the crankshaft balancer bolt and washer. To install the crankshaft balancer use balancer and crank sprocket installer (J 29113) while applying gm p/n 12378521 sealant (Canadian P/N 88901148) to the balancer keyway. After removing the installer replace the flywheel holder (J 37096) to stop flywheel rotation before you put on the crankshaft balancer washer and bolt. Secure the bolt at 160 nm (118 ft. Lbs.). First remove the flywheel holder (J 37096) then install the torque converter cover followed by frame elevation to its original height before tightening the frame bolts. You must put back the right engine splash shield and right front tire and wheel before you lower the vehicle and fit the Drive Belt.
