Begin the crankshaft balancer replacement by starting with the Drive Belt removal and properly raising and supporting the vehicle. The first step involves removing the right front tire along with wheel then proceeding to remove the right engine splash shield. You should install jack stands to the frame while loosening the left frame bolts before removing the right side frame bolts to lower the right side of the frame for crankshaft balancer access. Put on the flywheel holder (J 37096) after you remove the torque converter cover since it stops the flywheel from rotating. The crankshaft balancer remover (J 41816) should be utilized to extract the crankshaft balancer after removing the crankshaft balancer bolt and washer. Sealant gm p/n 12346286 (Canadian P/N 10953472) should be applied to the balancer keyway before installation with the balancer and crank sprocket installer (J 29113). The flywheel holder (J 37096) should be restated to maintain flywheel stability for installing the crankshaft balancer washer and bolt, torque the bolt to 70 nm (52 ft. Lbs.). Use the angle meter (J 45059) to rotate the crankshaft balancer bolt 70 degrees further before extracting the angle meter from the flywheel. Reinstall the torque converter cover followed by normalizing the vehicle frame then securing its frame bolts. You should install the right engine splash shield as well as the right front tire and wheel before lowering the vehicle to complete the installation of the Drive Belt.

Using j 39914 tightly rotates the tensioner Drive Belt to eliminate tension from the right idler pulley then users must remove the Drive Belt. After easing pressure from the tensioner spring using j 39914 the tool should be removed from its mounting position. The first step includes raising and supporting the vehicle while removing the right front wheel followed by extracting the wheelhouse liner. Set en-49010 into position where the Starter used to be in the Starter mounting holes. The crankshaft balancer bolt and washer need removal while constantly watching to prevent damage to the part from using a power tool. The crankshaft balancer should be removed by using j 41816-a together with en 46359. The keyway of the new balancer requires sealer gm p/n 12378521 for installation before placing it on the crankshaft key followed by j 29113 crankshaft installation. The installation of the balancer happens after rotating the hex nut found on j 29113 followed by removing j 29113. The used crankshaft balancer bolt should be installed first before tightening it to 125 nm followed by installation of a new bolt which requires a torque level of 125 nm as a starting point before reaching 130 degrees using j 45059. Reinstall the Starter and the wheelhouse liner and the right front wheel after removing en-49010 from the Starter mounting holes. Then lower the vehicle. Safe insertion of Drive Belt requires a centered position on all pulleys except the right idler pulley followed by tensioner rotation using j 39914 until the Drive Belt reaches position then gentle release of j 39914 to let the tensioner contact the belt before j 39914 removal. End the procedure by demonstrating Drive Belt alignment across all pulleys after removing j 39914.

The replacement process for crankshaft balancers requires several tools including balancer and crank sprocket installer (J 29113), flywheel holder (J 37096), crankshaft balancer remover (J 41816), as well as angle meter (J 45059). The replacement process requires removal of the Drive Belt followed by taking off right front tire and wheel together with the right engine splash shield. You need to set adjustable jack stands under the frame before you can loosen the bolts on the left side of the frame and completely remove the right side bolts to drop the right side frame for accessing the crankshaft balancer. The procedure begins by unplugging the engine to transmission bracket bolts with subsequent removal of the bracket then moving on to unscrew the torque converter cover. Affix the Flywheel holder (J 37096) to avoid Flywheel rotation before you remove the crankshaft balancer bolt together with its washer. Use the crankshaft balancer remover (J 41816) according to the procedures to remove the crankshaft balancer. Place the new crankshaft balancer on the crankshaft key after applying sealer to its keyway and secure it with the balancer and crank sprocket installer (J 29113). Use the angle meter (J 45059) to torque the new crankshaft balancer bolt first to 125 n.m (92 lb ft) then 130 degrees. Reinstall the torque converter cover before adding back the engine to transaxle bracket along with its bolts. Remove the Flywheel holder (J 37096) initially. The frame can be returned to its initial position while torqueing frame bolts to values marked on specific torque charts before the jack stands are removed and the right engine splash shield and right front tire and wheel are reinstalled, and the Drive Belt is restored.

Tighten to 125 Nm (92 lb ft) before replacing it with a new bolt.

Thread the J 29113 into the crankshaft and rotate the hex nut on the J 29113 to install the balancer, then remove the tool.

Install the Flywheel Holder (J 43442) to the flywheel.

Install jack stands to the frame, loosen the left frame bolts, and remove the right side frame bolts to lower the right side of the frame.

Begin by removing the drive belt, right front tire and wheel, and the right engine splash shield.

Use the Serpentine Belt Tensioner Unloader (J 39914) to rotate the drive belt tensioner and release the tension on the drive belt, then remove the drive belt from the right idler pulley.

Carefully release the tensioner and remove the tool from the drive belt tensioner. Raise and support the vehicle, then remove the right front wheel and the wheelhouse liner.

Apply sealer GM P/N 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148) to the keyway of the new balancer and position it over the crankshaft key.

Raise and support the vehicle, then remove the right front tire and wheel, and the right engine splash shield.

Use the Harmonic Balancer Holder (J 38122-A) and a breaker bar to prevent rotation while tightening the bolt to 100 N.m (74 lb ft) plus an additional 125 degrees with the Angle Meter (J 45059).

First, remove the drive belt and raise and support the vehicle.

Loosen the left side frame bolts and remove the right side frame bolts, lowering the right side of the frame.

Use the J 41816 (Harmonic Balancer Remover) and EN 46359 (Puller End Protector).

Tighten the bolt to 100 Nm (74 lb ft) plus an additional 125 degrees with the Angle Meter (J 45059).

Remove the front lower air deflector braces and deflector, as well as the radiator to frame braces.

Remove and discard the bolt.

Use the Crankshaft Balancer Holder (J 38122-A).

Remove the right engine splash shield and install adjustable jack stands under the frame.

Apply sealant GM P/N 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148) to the keyway of the balancer.
