2010 Chevrolet Impala Harmonic Balancer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the harmonic balancer on 2010 Chevrolet Impala?
A: You should start by taking off the Drive Belt followed by vehicle lifting and wheel support and accessory removal of the right front tire. Begin by removing the right engine splash shield before setting adjustable jack stands underneath the frame. You should remove the right frame bolts first while keeping the left bolts loose to lower the frame right side enough for crankshaft balancer access. The j 37096 must be positioned against the Flywheel to stop its rotation while you remove the torque converter covers. Inset the j 37096 through the Flywheel to prohibit rotation before executing all steps. The crankshaft balancer bolt and washer removal should be done manually to prevent misalignment or damage. The j 41816 and en 46359 tools will function to get rid of the crankshaft balancer. The keyway of the crankshaft balancer needs sealer before installing it onto the key using the j 29113 tool to thread inside the crankshaft. Start by threading the hex nut of j 29113 to install the balancer before removing the j 29113. Begin by placing the crankshaft balancer washer and bolt in position and fasten the used crankshaft balancer bolt to 125 nm (92 lb ft). Afterwards replace the old bolt with a new one which first requires torque to 125 nm (92 lb ft) before 130 degrees final tightening with the j 45059. Put back the j 37096 into the Flywheel after reinstalling the torque converter covers while using the j 45059 to tighten the right and left frame bolts to 100 nm (74 lb ft) as well as an additional 90 degrees. After that install the right engine splash shield alongside both the right front wheel and tire before carefully lowering the vehicle and adding the Drive Belt.
