Start by removing the left and right valve Rocker Arm covers followed by removing both upper and lower intake manifolds. Proceed with the valve Rocker Arm and pushrods removal thereafter separate the Lash Adjuster guide bolts and extract the Lash Adjuster guide(s). First clean all valve train parts and gasket surfaces by using degreaser. After this remove the Lash Adjuster(s) before moving to the installation sequence. Check for wear on lash adjusters and cam lobes during inspection. First apply prelube solution gm p/n 1052365 or equivalent to the adjusters before reinstalling them to their initial positions. Install the Lash Adjuster guide and Lash Adjuster guide bolts before finalizing their torque at 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Reinstall the valve rocker arms and pushrods to which you will add the lower and upper intake manifolds. The right (rear) and left (front) valve Rocker Arm covers should be installed as the last step.

The valve lifter repair requires starting with lower Intake Manifold disassembly followed by removal of valve rocker arms and pushrods and final removal of Intake Manifold oil splash shield. The process starts with lifter guide bolt removal before moving to valve lifter guides and concluding with lifter removal. Apply degreaser onto all gasket surfaces followed by valve train components while inspecting valve lifters and cam lobes for signs of wear. Pre-application of lube gm p/n 1052367 (Canadian P/N 992869) or equivalent should coat all valve lifters before putting them back to their original positions. The valve lifter guides should be installed along with their guide bolts which need torque adjustment at 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Finish up by installing the Intake Manifold oil splash shield followed by valve rocker arms and pushrods and finally the lower Intake Manifold.

One must begin the valve lifter replacement procedure by taking out the engine left side valve Rocker Arm cover before moving on to the engine right side valve Rocker Arm cover along with the upper Intake Manifold and lower Intake Manifold. Begin by removing the valve rocker arms and pushrods followed by the oil splash shield and the lifter guide bolts and lifter guide. The placement of valve train parts within a rack will help identify their correct installation order. Clean the removed lifter(s) before performing visual inspections. To update the installation you need to return the lifters to original removal positions before installing both the lifters and the lifter guide and subsequently the valve rocker arms and pushrods. Installation requires a sequence of reinserting the lower Intake Manifold and upper Intake Manifold and then the engine right side valve Rocker Arm cover and engine left side valve Rocker Arm cover.

The replacement of exhaust and lash adjusters begins with removing the Camshaft cover and upper Timing Chain Guide. Use the Camshaft sprocket holding tool (J 43655) to remove the exhaust and intake Camshaft sprocket bolts which you should discard. Use a marker to create reference points on the bearing caps before you advance the Camshaft sprockets. Follow these steps under hp steering wheel lock systems: remove each bolt on each cap one turn at a time while monitoring the Camshaft spring tension and afterward remove the bearing caps, exhaust Camshaft, camshaft roller followers, and hydraulic element lash adjusters in order. Installing begins by lubricating valve tips then installing the hydraulic element lash adjusters before the Camshaft roller followers while keeping alignment notches matched to the Camshaft sprocket. First install the exhaust Camshaft and Camshaft bearing caps followed by torqueing the Camshaft bearing cap bolts in 3-turn increments until they reach their first seating point then finish the torque at 10 nm (89 inch lbs). Place the Camshaft sprockets on the camshafts first and loosely tighten the new Camshaft sprocket bolts. Then remove the Camshaft sprocket holding tool (J 43655) before torquing the Camshaft sprocket bolts to 85 nm (63 ft. Lbs.) while turning them an additional 30 degrees. To complete the installation phase, complete guide installation by securing the upper Timing Chain Guide with a 10 nm (89 inch lbs) torque and then replace the Camshaft cover.

Before beginning Lash Adjuster replacement start by removing the upper Intake Manifold followed by removal of the lower Intake Manifold. First remove the left (front) valve Rocker Arm cover before moving on to the right (rear) valve Rocker Arm cover. The valve rocker arms and pushrods need to be removed first followed by removing the lifter guide bolts and the valve Lash Adjuster guide(s). Next you can take out the lash adjusters. Thoroughly degrease all gasket surfaces before cleaning the valve train components to check the lash adjusters and cam lobe conditions. Apply prelube (GM P/N 1052365 or equivalent) to the lash adjusters before they go into their regular locations. Secure the Lash Adjuster guide and its bolts with 10 nm torque (89 inch lbs.). After mounting the right and left valve Rocker Arm covers the technicians should install the valve rocker arms and pushrods. After finishing installation place the upper Intake Manifold along with the lower Intake Manifold back into position.

The first step in replacing lash adjusters includes both fuel system depressurization and negative Battery Cable removal. First you must drain the coolant before you remove the Intake Manifold and rocker arms while maintaining the lash adjusters' correct order for future reinstallation. First, users must remove both Lash Adjuster guide bolts then uninstall the guide and adjusters later. Begin Lash Adjuster installation by returning each unit to its intended place followed by a coating of gm p/n 1052365 or a comparable product. When installing the guide bolts for the Lash Adjuster guide you should torques them to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). After reinstalling the Intake Manifold along with the rocker arms you should refill your engine coolant. Reconnect the battery's negative terminal as the final step.

Start by acquiring all required tools that include the valve lifter remover (J 3049-A). Perform the following steps: remove the lower Intake Manifold followed by valve rocker arms and valve pushrods then arrange the components in a rack for future reinstallation. Before placing the valve lifters upright in the rack, remove their bolts and valve lifter Pushrod guide while keeping oil inside. A stuck valve lifter requires the use of the valve lifter remover (J 3049-A) to perform extraction procedures. The valve lifter bores need cleaning with solvent solution followed by a wear examination for potential scores. Replace the engine block if excessive wear or scoring is present. Inspection of the Camshaft must identify any wearing or damage before tooling up all components for reassembly. Dissolve contaminants from components before drying them down with compressed air and verify Pushrod guide condition in valve lifters. While inspecting valve lifters look for broken clips and worn Pushrod sockets along with scuffed or worn lifter bodies and worn rollers, loose or damaged pins and plugged oil holes. The installation of new lifters requires gm p/n 12345501 lubricant applied to the rollers yet reused lifters need to maintain their original placement. Begin by installing valve lifters into position before fitting valve lifter Pushrod guides then torque guide bolts to 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.). Finish by setting valve rocker arms and pushrods followed by the lower Intake Manifold installation.

Replacing valve lifters requires the lower Intake Manifold to be removed first. Start by removing valve rocker arms and pushrods while recording that guide bolts cannot be removed from the valve lifters. Start by depressing the valve lifter guide bolts then extract the valve lifter guides and then pull out the valve lifters from the guides. All gasket surfaces require cleaning with degreaser. Application requires prelube coating of valve lifters which can then be positioned inside the cylinder bores. Threadlock solution must be applied to the valve lifter guide bolt threads before the valve lifter guides can be installed. The valve lifter guide bolt torque should be set to 10 n.m (89 lb in) before reinstalling valve rocker arms and pushrods. Install the lower Intake Manifold as the final step.

Start Lash Adjuster replacement by removing the engine left side valve Rocker Arm cover followed by the engine right side valve Rocker Arm cover. The process begins with removing the upper Intake Manifold and culminates with extraction of the lower Intake Manifold. Installments begin with the removal of valve rocker arms and pushrods before handling adjuster guide bolts and the adjuster guide. A rack system should be used to organize valve train pieces before their eventual reinstallation because it allows for correct placement. After adjuster removal clean all Lash Adjuster(s) before performing inspection. After installation the adjusters must return to their initial positions followed by the installation of both adjusters and the adjuster guide. Place valve rocker arms and pushrods back into position before installing lower Intake Manifold and then upper Intake Manifold. As the last step install both the engine right side valve Rocker Arm cover together with the engine left side valve Rocker Arm cover.

Clean all gasket surfaces with degreaser and ensure the valve train parts are also clean.

Coat the lifters with prelube GM P/N 1052367 (Canadian P/N 992869) or equivalent.

Coat the lifters with prelube (GM P/N 1052365 or equivalent) and place them back in their original locations.

First, remove the lower intake manifold.

Tighten them to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).

Clean and inspect the valve lifter(s).

Take out the lifter guide bolts and the valve lifter guides.

Tighten the valve lifter guide bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

Next, remove the lifter guide bolts and the lifter guide, ensuring to keep the valve lifters organized for reinstallation.

First, remove the valve rocker arm cover.

Coat them using prelube GM P/N 1052367 (Canadian P/N 992869) or an equivalent.

It ensures they are reinstalled in their original locations before removing them.

Reinstall the valve rocker arms and pushrods.

Next, remove the upper and lower intake manifolds.

Place the valve lifter(s) back in their original locations, then install the lifter guide(s) and bolts.

Apply thread lock to the valve lifter guide bolt threads before installing the valve lifter guides.

Clean all gasket surfaces with degreaser and ensure the valve train parts are also clean.

Coat each lifter with GM P/N 1052365 or an equivalent product.

Begin by removing the camshaft cover and the upper timing chain guide.

Apply threadlock GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) or an equivalent.

Clean all gasket mating surfaces and the valve train parts, and inspect the valve lifters and cam lobes for wear.

Place the valve train parts in a rack to maintain their original order.

Take out the valve lifters from the guides.

Clean all gasket surfaces with degreaser.

The valve lifters must also be replaced.

Remove the lifter guide bolts and the lifter guide.

Tighten the valve lifter guide bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

Install the valve lifter guide, ensuring to adhere to the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Take out the valve rocker arms and pushrods.

Take out the lifter guide bolts, the valve lifter guides, and the valve lifters themselves.

Threadlock GM P/N 12345382 or an equivalent.

Remove the lower intake manifold, followed by the valve rocker arms and valve pushrods.
