  A: Replacement of valve lifters requires starting with removal of the engine left side valve Rocker Arm cover followed by the engine right side valve Rocker Arm cover, upper Intake Manifold, and lower Intake Manifold. Start by removing the valve rocker arms and pushrods followed by removing the lifter guide bolts and guide. The placement of valve train components into a rack serves to maintain their proper installation positions until you remove the lifter(s). Installation requires prelube gm p/n 1052365 or equivalent coating of the valve lifters before their placement in their original mounting positions. You need to use threadlock gm p/n 12345382 or an equivalent on the threads before putting in the valve lifter guides and guide bolts. Torque these guide bolts to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). The installation process begins with valve rocker arms and pushrods before installing the lower and upper intake manifolds and ending with engine right side valve Rocker Arm cover and engine left side valve Rocker Arm cover.
