To replace valve lifters, you first need to remove the lower Intake Manifold. Then remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods, noting that the valve lifter guide bolts that are not removable. Remove the lug nut washers by loosening the valve lifters guide bolts and removing the valve lifters from the guides, followed then by the valve lifter guides. Degrease all surfaces of the gaskets. For installation, prelube is applied on valve lifters, before placing them in the cylinder bores. Use threadlock to the valve lifter guide bolt threads before fitting of the valve lifter guides. One should be careful of fasteners to prevent the damage of vehicles. Next, apply 10 nm (89 lb in) of torque to the valve lifter guide bolts, then reinstall the valve rocker arms and pushrods and then reinstall the lower Intake Manifold.
