  A: To replace the valve lifters, one must first remove the lower Intake Manifold; rockers arms and pushrods follow, after that, the Intake Manifold oil splash shield is removed. Third, remove the lifter guide bolts, the valve lifter guides, and the valves lifters themselves. Clean all gasket surfaces on degreaser and the parts on valve train, checking on the valve lifters and the cam lobes for wear. For installation, apply the prelube gm p/n 1052367 (Canadian P/N 992869) or equivalent coating on the valve lifters, and then install the latter in the original location. Then, place on the valve lifter guides as well as the valve lifter guide bolts and tighten them to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Finally spray the lower Intake Manifold, valve rocker arms and pushrods, intake manifold oil splash shield back onto the engine.
