2010 Buick Lucerne Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the harmonic balancer on 2010 Buick Lucerne?
A: Starting the Crankshaft balancer replacement process requires the removal of the Drive Belt and vehicle lift followed by tire and wheel removal of the right front side and front wheelhouse liner removal. The process to access the Crankshaft balancer requires you to lower the right side of the frame by removing its bolts while loosening the left side bolts with adjustable jacks positioned to support the frame. Install the j 37096 between the engine and Flywheel before the torque converter covers to stop engine rotation. Remove the Crankshaft balancer bolt together with its washer but do not utilize power-assisted tools because they can create misalignment. The j 41816 and en 46359 will help you eliminate the Crankshaft balancer from service. When installing the Crankshaft balancer start by applying sealer on its keyway while positioning it over the Crankshaft's key followed by threading the j 29113 into the same Crankshaft. Use the j 29113 to slowly thread its hex nut and install the balancer before taking out the tool. The Crankshaft balancer washer installation requires first tightening the original bolt to 125 nm (92 lb ft) followed by bolt replacement with a new one. A j 45059 tool will be used to tighten the new bolt from 125 nm (92 lb ft) during the first pass until it reaches 130 degrees. Replace the j 45059 after the procedure and subsequently reattach the torque converter covers then shift the frame into place before torquing the frame bolts to 100 nm (74 lb ft) and adding another 90 degrees using the j 45059. The last steps involve putting back the front wheelhouse liner, right front wheel alongside tire, putting down the automobile and installing the Drive Belt.
