2007 Buick Terraza Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the harmonic balancer on 2007 Buick Terraza?
A: A replacement operation of the Crankshaft balancer requires the use of four essential tools including j 29113 (Balancer and Crank Sprocket Installer) and j 37096 (Flywheel Holder) along with j 41816 (Crankshaft Balancer Remover) as well as j 45059 (Angle Meter). The first step involves removing the Drive Belt and both the right front wheel together with its tire and then removing the right engine splash shield. Position adjustable jack stands beneath the frame while unfastening the left frame bolts and removing the right ones. You can reach the Crankshaft balancer by lowering the right frame side using the installed jack stands. Start by removing the bolts securing the engine to transmission bracket at the rear lower left portion of the engine and transaxle assembly. Then remove the bracket together with the torque converter cover. The j 37096 must be installed onto the flywheel to prevent rotation before the Crankshaft balancer bolt and washer are removed. The tool j 41816 should be used for removing the Crankshaft balancer. Before installation of the new Crankshaft balancer place sealer onto its keyway slot and position it properly on the Crankshaft key. Secure the balancer by rotating the hex nut of j29113 which has been installed onto the Crankshaft. Install the Crankshaft balancer washer and bolt after taking out j 29113 by initially torqueing to 70 n.m (52 lb ft) followed by a 70-degree torque using j 45059. Install the torque converter cover first before putting back the engine to transaxle bracket and its bolts accompanied by removing the j 37096 from the flywheel. Position the frame at its original height using adjustable jacks before securing both right side and left side frame bolts while the front bolts must reach 130 n.m (96 lb ft) and the rear bolts require 240 n.m (177 lb ft). After completing the procedure remove the jack stands and put back the right engine splash shield followed by the right front tire and wheel and finally the Drive Belt.
