2006 GMC Canyon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) at Position 1 on 2006 GMC Canyon?
A: The technician must disconnect the ho2s electrical connector both from the engine wiring harness electrical connector and the camshaft cover as the first step for position 1 heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) replacement. The heated Oxygen Sensor wrench (J 39194-B) should be used to separate the ho2s from its position at the Exhaust Manifold. Special anti-seize compound (P/N 5613695) should be applied to ho2s threads because its graphite suspended in fluid and glass beads formation improves future removal steps. When using the same Oxygen Sensor it is essential to apply anti-seize compound to its threads during installation. Proceed with the installation of the ho2s into the Exhaust Manifold by using the heated Oxygen Sensor wrench (J 39194-B) and follow with a torque level of 42 n.m (31 lb ft). Reconnect the ho2s electrical connector by installing it to both the engine wiring harness electrical connector and the camshaft cover.
