• Q: How to replace the upper intake manifold on 2007 Buick Rendezvous?

  A: To remove the upper Intake Manifold, first proceed to drain the cooling system and remove the Intake Manifold cover, air cleaner outlet duct, and separate the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge solenoid valve quick connect fitting. Then unplug the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) fresh air tube from the rocker cover and move the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose clamp, as well as unplug the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose. Unplug the electronic control module electrical connector, manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor electrical connector, and engine harness clip from the pcv foul air clip. And unplug the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve electrical connector and evap canister purge solenoid valve electrical connector. Pull off the engine harness clips of the Intake Manifold, undo the Spark Plug Wires from the Ignition Coil, pull off the Spark Plug wire harness clips from the Ignition Coil bracket, spark plug wire support and the coolant bypass pipe before undoing the Spark Plug Wires from the spark plugs. Dispense with the pcv foul air tube bolt and clip the pcv foul air tube, thermostat bypass pipe, ignition coil, egr valve, and generator bracket. Then, take out the upper Intake Manifold bolts and the stud, as well as the Spark Plug support bracket and the upper Intake Manifold with the upper Intake Manifold to lower Intake Manifold gaskets. Clean the mating surfaces of the upper and lower Intake Manifold. Set the Throttle Body seal and Throttle Body in place as well as fasten it with bolts torqued to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Position the evap canister purge solenoid valve insulator and valve to the intake, and install the valve bolt and tightening it to 12 n.m (106 lb in) install the new upper Intake Manifold to lower Intake Manifold gaskets before the upper Intake Manifold placed. Apply threadlock to upper Intake Manifold bolt threads, install Spark Plug support bracket, and others intel upper Intake Manifold bolts and stud and tighten to 25n.m (18 lb ft). Reinstalling the generator bracket, egr valve, ignition coil, thermostat bypass pipe, and pcv foul air tube, tighten clip and bolt to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Connect the Spark Plug Wires to Ignition Coil and attach the Spark Plug wire harness clips then connect the Spark Plug to the spark plugs. Mount the clips of the engine harness on the Intake Manifold, bind the evap canister purge valve electrical connector, egr valve electrical connector, and the engine harness clip to the pcv foul air clip. Join the MAP Sensor electrical connector and the electronic control module electrical connector, then reinstall the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose and clamp, the pcv fresh air tube, evap canister purge solenoid valve quick connect fitting, air cleaner outlet duct, and Intake Manifold cover. Finally, fill the cooling system.
