  A: The first step to replace the rear object sensor requires removing the rear bumper fascia followed by disconnecting the electrical connector from the rear object sensor. Release the locking tabs on the housing by lifting them before removing the rear object sensor . Then push the spring out to separate the housing and continue by releasing the tabs which stay on the housing for the removal. Feed the rear object sensor bezel through the fascia opening in order to remove it. Install the new rear object sensor by painting the component while keeping the paint at 6 mils or less using a suitable gage for non-ferrous metals. Press the rear object sensor bezel so it matches the keyhole position and pushes the bezel until it rests perfectly on the fascia surface. Position the housings containing spring keys at the top and bottom cutouts before installing them onto the back of the fascia. The spring must be connected to the housing before the decoupling ring installation onto the sensor. Push the sensor into the housing so the connector points towards the passenger side fascia by engaging the sensor tabs into the pre-existing cutouts. The electrical connection to the rear object sensor takes place while reattaching the rear bumper fascia.
