Reverse Sensor

The first step to replace the rear object sensor requires removing the rear bumper fascia followed by disconnecting the electrical connector from the rear object sensor. Release the locking tabs on the housing by lifting them before removing the rear object sensor . Then push the spring out to separate the housing and continue by releasing the tabs which stay on the housing for the removal. Feed the rear object sensor bezel through the fascia opening in order to remove it. Install the new rear object sensor by painting the component while keeping the paint at 6 mils or less using a suitable gage for non-ferrous metals. Press the rear object sensor bezel so it matches the keyhole position and pushes the bezel until it rests perfectly on the fascia surface. Position the housings containing spring keys at the top and bottom cutouts before installing them onto the back of the fascia. The spring must be connected to the housing before the decoupling ring installation onto the sensor. Push the sensor into the housing so the connector points towards the passenger side fascia by engaging the sensor tabs into the pre-existing cutouts. The electrical connection to the rear object sensor takes place while reattaching the rear bumper fascia.

Insert the sensor into the housing through the connector side while directing it toward the right side of the fascia. Then fasten the sensor's tabs into the housing cutouts. The electrical connector should be attached to the rear object sensor while reinstalling the rear bumper fascia.

Disassembling the rear bumper fascia while disconnecting the rear object sensor electrical connector is required before sensor replacement. Lift the locking tabs located on the housing before you pull out the rear object sensor. The spring needs squeezing to separate from the housing before unlocking the housing tabs for sensor removal. Press the housing to the bezel from the rear fascia back side until it fits all cutouts securely while placing spring keys at both the top and bottom edge of the housing. Place the spring into the housing before adding the decoupling ring onto the sensor. To proceed insert the sensor into the housing while directing the connector toward the fascia's passenger side ensure the sensor tabs lock in correctly to the housing cutouts. Finish the rear bumper installation by connecting the electrical connector to the rear object sensor followed by putting back the rear bumper fascia.

Paint the new rear object sensor, ensuring not to refinish previously painted sensors, and check that the paint thickness does not exceed 6 mils using a suitable paint thickness gauge for non-ferrous metals.

Insert the sensor into the housing with the connector facing the passenger side of the fascia, pressing the sensor tabs into the cutouts on the housing.

Paint the new rear object sensor, ensuring the paint thickness does not exceed 6 mils using a paint thickness gauge suitable for non-ferrous metals.

Push the bezel through the fascia to take it out.
