2007 Buick Rendezvous Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the transmission pan on 2007 Buick Rendezvous?
A: The vehicle should be both raised and supported before placing a drain pan under the transaxle bottom Oil Pan. Use an Oil Pan bolt remover on the front and side bolts while applying a torque of 4 turns to the rear bolts to avoid breaking the mating surfaces thereby preventing oil leakage. Strike the Oil Pan with a rubber mallet or gently pry it with a screwdriver to draining the fluid. Proceed by removing the remaining Oil Pan bolts and the Oil Pan as well as the Oil Pan Gasket. The inspection of both the Oil Pan and filter screen must detect the presence of metal particles, clutch facing material, rubber particles and engine coolant. The source of contamination should be identified for necessary corrections. The Oil Pan flange should be examined for distortion but the Oil Pan requires replacement if it is bent or misshapen instead of attempting straightening. Check all bolt washers before installing fresh bolt assembly units when any washer shows an inverted position. Check the Oil Pan to see if it shows damage to the sealing surface or the bottom has dents or breaks while inspecting the Oil Pan Gasket for bent or damaged seal cores as well as a broken gasket material. Treat the Oil Pan magnet for stored damage and misalignment issues before cleaning the Oil Pan and gasket and magnet to eliminate any sediment and verify the Oil Pan and case flanges remain empty of oil film during inspection. Use solvent to clean both the gasket surfaces before drying them completely while removing every fragment of the previous gasket material. After installing the Oil Pan along with its gasket put the Oil Pan bolts in place and tighten them to 14 n.m (10 lb ft). Fill the transmission fluid into the transaxle while the driver sets the gear selector to park position. Operate the engine at a slow idle speed together with avoiding excessive transaxle filling to stop foaming and fluid leakage and shifting problems and equipment destruction. The technician should evaluate fluid levels while inspecting repair work quality, also looking for signs of leakage in the fluid.
