Q: How to replace the lower intake manifold on 2007 Buick Terraza?
A: In order to remove the lower Intake Manifold, begin by removing the coolant crossover pipe, the upper Intake Manifold and both valve Rocker Arm covers. Remove the engine coolant temperature (ECT) electrical connector and fuel feed line from the Fuel Rail. Pull off the cpa retainer and remove the harness electrical connector (engine harness) from the Fuel Injector harness. Then pull off the Fuel Injector harness connector bracket bolt from the Intake Manifold, disconnect the electronic connector for the camshaft position (CMP) sensor, and unbolt Fuel Injector rails prior to pulling out the Fuel Rail. After that, take off the lower Intake Manifold bolts and the lower Intake Manifold itself. Loosen the valve Rocker Arm bolts and make sure that valve train components are placed in a rack for proper reinstallation. The valve rocker arms and push rods must also be removed, with the intake push rods being 147.51 mm (5.81 in) and exhaust push rods 154.87 mm (6.1 in). Replace the lower Intake Manifold gaskets and seals, clean the surfaces of cylinder heads and block of the engine, as well as degrease the surfaces of the lower Intake Manifold. Any loosed room temperature vulcanizing sealer (RTV) should be removed. For installation, clean all gasket mating surfaces and make sure they are not oiled. Mount the lower Intake Manifold gaskets and seals and coat the ends of the push rods with prelube and then remounts them in their original position. Coat the friction surfaces of the Rocker Arm with prelube, and where required, shims (P/N 88894006) under valve Rocker Arm pedestals. Replace the valve rocker arms and quite down the bolts 34 n.m (25 lb ft). With new gaskets and seals, add a small amount of rtv sealer to the corners of Intake Manifold to engine block joint before installing the lower Intake Manifold. Apply sealer to the bolt threads in the lower Intake Manifold and install bolt, tightening them in the specified order: first to 16 n.m (12 lb ft) and further to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Check for Fuel Rail, fuel injectors, o-rings, and inspect for damages, lubricate o-rings with engine oil, and take injector nozzles and insert it into the lower Intake Manifold injector bores. Push the injector rail all the way down and install and screw the Fuel Injector rail bolts to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Replace the cmp sensor electrical connector, align the Fuel Injector harness connector bracket and fasten the bracket bolt with 8 n.m (71 lb in). Connect the engine harness electrical connector, to the Fuel Injector wiring harness, install the cpa retainer, and reconnect the fuel feed line to the Fuel Rail. Lastly, plug back the ect electrical connector, and install both valve Rocker Arm covers, the upper Intake Manifold, and the coolant crossover pipe.
