2007 Buick Terraza Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the intermediate steering shaft on 2007 Buick Terraza?
A: Starting intermediate Steering Shaft replacement follows steps that involve using the Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J 42640) to lock the Steering Column while keeping the front wheels straight in the lock position. This strategy protects both the sir coil assembly from damage and ensures proper alignment. The first process involves vehicle lift and support followed by intermediate Steering Shaft seal placement for access to the lower pinch bolt. To disconnect the intermediate Steering Shaft from the power steering gear stub shaft first remove the lower pinch bolt. Lower the vehicle to access the upper pinch bolt through the left sound insulator removal pathway which requires intermediate Steering Shaft seal repositioning. To disconnect the intermediate Steering Shaft from the Steering Column first remove the upper pinch bolt. To install the intermediate Steering Shaft begin by attaching it to the Steering Column before putting the upper pinch bolt and tightening it to 48 n.m (35 lb ft). After supporting the vehicle as before you should install the intermediate Steering Shaft seal onto the Steering Column. Reconnect the intermediate Steering Shaft to the power steering gear stub shaft before tightening the lower pinch bolt to 48 n.m (35 lb ft). After substituting the power steering gear's intermediate Steering Shaft seal you should lower the car to reinstall the left sound insulator while extracting the Steering Column's Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J 42640).
