    A: In order to substitute the rack and pinion inner tie rods (Quiet Valve) off the vehicle the following procedure must be done: remove Rack and Pinion Boot and render secure the gear in a vise and do not alter the steering gear preload adjustment to avoid incurring damage. Take away the piece involved in dampening the shocks from the inner Tie Rod assembly and return them to the rack . With another pipe wrench on the rack to the right of the inner Tie Rod housing, and the wrench on the flats of the inner Tie Rod housing, turn it counterclockwise until it comes free of the track. Next, you need to follow after removing/shaking off the shock dampener from the inner Tie Rod housing, slide back the rack. Again, employ a pipe wrench on the rack and a wrench to the flats of the inner, the rod housing in spinning it counterclockwise until the inner Tie Rod comes free of the rack. If the configuration is female rack and male inner Tie Rod , clean chemical loctite(R) from the threads of inner Tie Rod and rack. If it's male rack and female inner Tie Rod, loctite(R) won't be present. For assembly, slide the shock dampener forward on the rack with threads cleaned prior to application of loctite(R) 262 or equivalent it the configuration is female rack and male inner Tie Rod. Mounting the inner aspect of the Tie Rod onto the rack, apply a pipe wrench on the rack next to the inner aspect of the Tie Rod, on its housing and a torque wrench with j 34028 on the flats of the inner Tie Rod housing fix it to 100 n.m (74 lb ft). Slide the shock dampener forward on the rack, provided that threads are clean, then you can apply loctite 262 or equivalent if the configuration is female rack and male inner Tie Rod. Clench the inner Tie Rod to the rack with the help of the pipe wrench on the rack next to the inner Tie Rod housing using a torque wrench, j 34028, on the flats of inner Tie Rod housing tightened to 100 n.m (74 lb ft). Secure the inner Tie Rod assembly in a vise, staking both side of the assembly on the female inner Tie Rod assembly housing to the male rack if it is female rack and male intrer Tie Rod assembly and check both stakes with a 0.25 mm gage to ensure that it can not pass between the rack and the housing stake. Last, slide the shock dampener over the inner Tie Rod housing until it bottoms against the inner Tie Rod housing and put the Rack and Pinion Boot assembly.
