2007 Buick Terraza Power Steering Hose Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace a Power Steering Hose for Inlet on 2007 Buick Terraza?
A: A technician should start the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose replacement by turning the steering wheel straight ahead then securing it in position and removing the ignition key. You must take out the intake manifold cover and Drive Belt together with washer solvent container as well as the Drive Belt idler pulley bolt and accompanying pulley unit. You need to dismantle three engine lift bracket retaining bolts and afterward disassemble the power steering pulley. Disconnect the Power Steering Pump and the gear inlet pipe/hose routing clip nut from the generator while unmounting the inlet pipe/hose from the routing clip. Drop drain liquid into a pan beneath the steering pump and gear before you detach the inlet hose fitting from the pump using a new o-ring seal which should be discarded. First raise the vehicle while also making sure the intermediate shaft remains disconnected from the Rack And Pinion stub shaft to avoid any potential damage. The intermediate shaft should be separated from the steering gear using pinch bolt removal before placing a jack stand at the cradle support rear side and removing the two rear cradle support bolts. The technician should lower the cradle support against clearance before removing the two power steering gear heat shield bolts along with the shield. Separate the steering gear inlet pipe/hose connection while disposing of the o-ring seal before taking out both parts from the vehicle. The new o-ring seal installation requires you to attach the inlet pipe/hose to the steering gear with proper torque of 27 n.m (20 lb ft). Secure the steering gear heat shield by torquing its bolts to 14 n.m (124 lb in). Add the jack stand to lift the rear cradle support until you can install the two rear bolts which need 165 n.m (122 lb ft) torque before jack stand removal. Secure the intermediate shaft to the steering gear by installing the pinch bolt then tighten it to 48 n.m (35 lb ft). Connect the inlet pipe/hose fitting to the steering gear by applying new o-ring seal and secure it with a torque of 27 n.m (20 lb ft). First remove the drain pan while directing the inlet pipe/hose toward the routing clip and install the nut by tightening it to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Install the Power Steering Pump pulley followed by engine lift bracket with three bolts tightened to 50 n.m (37 lb ft), Drive Belt idler pulley with its bolt tightened to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). The procedure includes washer solvent container installation after Drive Belt and intake manifold cover. To complete the process you must execute a filling and bleeding procedure for the power steering system.
