From an inner Tie Rod housing perspective, apply a torque wrench with j 34028 and tighten components with a strength of 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.). When working with configurations where the rack exists as a male component the inner Tie Rod assembly should rest in a vise while staking the female inner Tie Rod assembly housing to the male rack on both sides. A 0.25mm gauge should verify that no area on both stakes can fit through the rack-to-inner Tie Rod housing gap. After the shock dampener reaches its lowest position it should rest against the inner Tie Rod housing before installing the Rack and Pinion Boot.

M (74ft. Lbs. ). Lastly, fit the shock dampener over the inner Tie Rod housing until the front lip of the shock dampener hits the inner Tie Rod housing and mount the Rack and Pinion Boot.

The shock dampener slides over the inner Tie Rod housing as part of reassembling the Rack and Pinion Boot before installing the steering gear.

To uninstall Rack And Pinion inner Tie Rod off the vehicle first remove Rack And Pinion boot. Perform the same steps again on the inner Tie Rod before securing the female inner Tie Rod assembly housing to the male rack by staking both sides. Examine the stake diameter by inserting a 0.25 mm gage to confirm it does not fit between the housing and rack . Shove the shock dampener over the inner Tie Rod housing completely before final assembly of the Rack and Pinion Boot.

Clean the threads of the inner tie rod and the rack if applicable, and apply LOCTITE® 262 or equivalent as needed.

Ensure proper staking of the inner tie rod assembly housing to the male rack and check the stakes with a 0.25 mm gage.

Slide it back onto the rack.

Slide the shock dampener over the inner tie rod housing until it is properly seated.

Tighten the tie rod bolt to 85 Nm (63 ft. lbs.).

Repeat for the inner tie rod and ensure proper staking of the inner tie rod assembly housing to the male rack.

Slide the shock dampener over the inner tie rod housing until it is properly seated.

Tighten it to 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.) using a torque wrench with the Inner Tie Rod Wrench (J 34028).

Check the stakes with a 0.25 mm gage to ensure they are secure.

Clean the old LOCTITE(R) from the threads of the inner tie rod and the rack.

First, remove the rack and pinion boot.

Use a 0.25 mm gage to check the stakes, ensuring it does not pass between the rack and housing stake.

Remove the shock dampener from the inner tie rod assembly and slide it back onto the rack. Use a pipe wrench on the rack next to the inner tie rod housing and a wrench on the flats of the inner tie rod housing to rotate it counterclockwise until it separates from the rack.

Check both stakes with a 0.25 mm gage to ensure it does not pass between the rack and the housing stake.

Clean the old Loctite from the threads of the rack and the inner tie rod.

Remove the rack and pinion boot, ensuring the rack is held to prevent damage during the process.

Slide the shock dampener over the inner tie rod housing until the front lip of the shock dampener bottoms against the inner tie rod housing and assemble the rack and pinion boot.
