  A: Gather the required tools to replace the Rack And Pinion inner Tie Rod off the vehicle that will include: inner Tie Rod wrench (J 34028). First off, get rid of the Rack And Pinion boot and hold the gear in a vise. On adjusting the steering gear preload, do not change it before the removal of the inner Tie Rod in order to remain safe. Take out the shock dampener from the inner Tie Rod housing and slide it onto the rack. Place a pipe wrench on the valve end of the steering gear against the inner Tie Rod housing, then, place another pipe wrench on the rack next to the inner Tie Rod housing. Mount the inner Tie Rod to the rack with the help of a pipe wrench and the inner Tie Rod wrench (J 34028), tightening it on to 100 n.m (74 lb ft). Repeat the whole procedures involving the inner Tie Rod, ensuring that the staking of the inner Tie Rod assembly to the male rack is properly done. Check the stakes with a 0.25mm gage so that it would not pass between the rack and housing stake and then slide the shock dampener over to the inner Tie Rod housing until properly seated. Finally, reinstall the Rack And Pinion boot.
