2007 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Automatic Transmission Filter on 2007 Cadillac CTS?
A: The first step to service and repair automatic transmission fluid and filter is to raise and support the vehicle. Drain the transmission fluid while monitoring its color and visual contaminants by placing a suitable drain pan under the transmission Drain Plug. Then remove the plug and discard it before installation of a new Drain Plug at 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Fasten a new transmission fluid Drain Plug with a torque setting of 20 n.m and tighten it to 15 lb ft. Prior to removing the fluid pan bolts you should lightly strike the fluid pan with a rubber mallet to help with loosening it. Disassemble the fluid pan and its gasket before cleaning all components to check for damage and wear on the magnet and pan and bolts and gasket. You should use a long screwdriver to remove the fluid filter and the j 23129 universal seal remover along with j 6125-1b slide hammer adapter to detach the 2 seals. Position 2 new fluid filter seals on the transmission fluid filter neck after coating them lightly with j 36850 transjel lubricant or petroleum jelly. Place the transmission fluid filter inside the case while making sure fluid pan gaskets remain usable if undamaged. The fluid pan together with its gasket should be installed instantly before tightening the fluid pan bolts to 11 n.m (97 lb in). Add the required fluid amount to proper levels before lowering the car for a leak inspection of the Oil Pan Gasket.
