2007 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Clutch Master Cylinder on 2007 Cadillac CTS?
A: To replace the master cylinder clutch (CTS), start by removing driver side instrument panel insulator, and the switch electrical connector for the clutch pedal position are disconnected. The second thing to do is disconnect the Clutch Master Cylinder push rod from the clutch pedal pin, as well as the clutch fluid reservoir retaining bolt, thereafter the reservoir itself from the fender reinforcement. It is pertinent to mention that one does not need to drain the coolant or disconnect the coolant lines from the surge tank. Unscrew the mounting bolts of the coolant surge tank and place the tank aside and install a rubber cap over the open hose fitting to avoid any loss and contamination of fluid. Unplug the clutch hydraulic hose and then turn the Clutch Master Cylinder a little over 1/8 turn and pull it off the cowl. Then, pull out the clutch pedal position switch from the Clutch Master Cylinder. For installation, mount the clutch pedal position switch onto the new Clutch Master Cylinder, and with the clutch fluid reservoir connection at the 2'o'clock position, insert the master cylinder to the cowl, with the keys from the housing aligned to the tabs on the clutch pedal bracket. Twist the master cylinder counter clockwise about 1/8 turn until seated, making sure the reservoir hose connection terminates at the vertical 12 o'clock rice. Connect the clutch hydraulic hose, place the coolant surge tank, and then fit the clutch fluid reservoir to the fender reinforcement. Mount the clutch fluid reservoir bolt and tighten to 36 n.m (27 lb ft). Move the master cylinder clutch push rod to the clutch pedal pin and press it onto the pin so that it is locked in place. Reconnect the electrical connector for pedal position switch, replace the driver's side insulator on the instrument panel and last but not least, take care of bleeding clutch hydraulic system.
