• Q: How to replace the floor shift linkage boot on 2007 Cadillac CTS?

  A: Starting the replacement of the floor shift control boot requires activation of the parking brake function. The shift control boot can be extracted from the console trim plate when you gently raise its back edge before pulling it over the Shift Knob. First detach the knob retaining screw before carefully lifting off the shift lever assembly with shift control boot and knob. Install the shift control boot and knob assembly onto the shift lever by placing it there before using the Shift Knob retaining screw to secure it. Press the rear of the shift control boot down as you insert its front tabs into the console trim plate opening. To check proper attachment of the shift control boot to the console trim plate opening gently pull on it while making sure the connection remains secure.
