• Q: How to replace the Clutch Master Cylinder on 2008 Cadillac CTS?

  A: First, remove the driver side instrument panel insulator to replace the Clutch Master Cylinder. Remove the harness connector for the clutch pedal position switch and the Clutch Master Cylinder push rod from the clutch pedal pin. Take off the clutch fluid reservoir from the cowl and set it to one side. Then you eliminate the vacuum Brake Booster, and don't disconnect the hydraulic hoses from the Clutch Master Cylinder. Turn the Clutch Master Cylinder clockwise 1/8 turn and take it off the cowl. When removing the park brake pedal assembly from the instrument panel, position it aside, and install a rubber cap on the exposed hose fitting for the purpose of protecting fractional losses and contaminations of the fluid. Disconnect the clutch hydraulic hose. During installation, attach the clutch hydraulic hose, the connection for the clutch fluid reservoir will be facing the2 o'clock position and position the Clutch Master Cylinder in the cowl. Lign up the keys of the Clutch Master Cylinder housing with the tabs on the clutch pedal bracket, then turn the Clutch Master Cylinder ccw about 1/8 turn until fully seated, the clutch fluid reservoir hose connection at the 12 o'clock position horizontally. It is time to install the vacuum Brake Booster and then the clutch fluid reservoir to the cowl. Press the Clutch Master Cylinder push rod down to the clutch pedal pin and then press it into the pin in order to fix. Check for adequate clutch pedal operation, then mount the driver side instrument panel insulator. Finally, bleed the clutch hydraulic system.
