    A: To replace the park/neutral position switch of a 4l80-e/ 4l85-e automatic transmission, first apply the park brake and change the transmission to the neutral position. If your car includes 4-wheel drive (4WD), take out the front propeller shaft. Lift and appropriately support the vehicle. Unplug the park/neutral position (PNP) switch electrical connector and the selector cable from the range selector lever ball stud. Take off the control lever to the manual shaft nut and control lever from the manual shaft. Next, terminate the bolts of the pnp switch and the pnp switch from the manual shaft, if it does not slide off easily, use a file to reduce the outer edge of the manual shaft to remove burrs. For installation align the pnp switch with the flats on the manual shaft and slide onto the manual shaft until the switch mounting bracket is in contact with the transmission mounting bosses. A new pnp switch category will come with the benefit of a positive assure bracket, so neutral with the park // pnp non aligner (J 41364-A) not necessary. If not, tighten the pnp switch bolts finger-tight and according to the dimensions given above, position the plyighton j 41364-a onto the pnp switch and ensure that slots coincide with the tab of the tool rotate the tool so that the upper locator pin aligns with the switch slot. Clamp the bolts to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) and then remove the j 41364-a. If a new switch was installed, desteck the positive assurance bracket. Re-install the control lever to the manual shaft with the nut and tighten it to 25n.m (18 lb ft), then control lever and control lever to manual shaft nut and also tighten it to 25n.m (18 lb ft). Complete the connection of the range selector cable to the range selector lever ball stud along with the pnp switch electrical connector. Weimo 4wd: reinstall front propeller shaft, lower vehicle, check pnp switch for opera- tion, only start engine when in park (P) or neutral (N). Replace the switch if the correct function cannot be achieved.
