2007 Cadillac SRX Oil Pan Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2007 Cadillac SRX?
A: A new Oil Pan installation process involves placing the engine support fixture while allowing engine oil to drain. Start by taking out the front frame and in case your vehicle has one you need to remove the front differential carrier. Unplug the electrical wire from the engine oil level sensor before removing the sensor from the Oil Pan. Begin by uninstalling the Oil Pan bolts while bearing in mind the gasket can be salvaged unless it has sustained damage but should always stay intact unless you need a new replacement. Follow the steps of drilling out Oil Pan Gasket rivets then get rid of the gasket before cleaning and checking the Oil Pan for damage. The new gasket should be placed on the Oil Pan without any fastening to the pan. Place the Oil Pan on the lower crankcase while maintaining a 0.50 mm (0.020 in) forward position relative to the rear engine block surface. Fasten the Oil Pan fasteners in their designated seating according to the bulkhead layout. The engine requires three types of fasteners including the short length bolt (420) and medium length bolt (421) and long length bolt (422). Apply sequence order when tightening the Oil Pan bolts; start by applying 15 n.m (11 lb ft) torque followed by 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Start by torquing the Oil Pan fasteners to 15 n.m (11 lb ft) then finish with 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Screw in the engine oil level sensor into the Oil Pan while securing it with 10 n.m of torque and reconnect its electrical connector. You should reinstall the front differential carrier among other components if equipped followed by reinstalling the front frame. Optimally fill the engine with oil before removing the engine support fixture and checking for any oil leaks while running the engine.
