• Q: How to replace the TPMS Sensor on 2007 Cadillac STS?

  A: To replace the Tire Pressure Sensor, lift up the vehicle using a suitable aid and remove the tire/wheel. If you do decide to remove the tire, put the sensor's cap and valve down to a clean surface with its cap being an aluminum one and nellium plated valve to avoid the possibility of corrosion. When breaking bead from the wheel, place the bead breaking fixture 90degrees to the valve stem and slip the tire iron / pry bar a little clock wise from the sensor body to pry the tire bead up and over the mounting/dismounting head. Prick the bead at six evenly spaced points (three at the top and three at the bottom), then rotate the tire/wheel assembly clockwise when moving the tire bead to the outside of the wheel rim, then repeat for the inner bead before removing the tire from the wheel. Rotate the tire/wheel assembly using the tire machine when moving the tire bead to the outside of the wheel rim, then repeat the same for the inner bead before removing the tire from the wheel. If there is any tire sealant still, then rid the tire and the wheel of remaining liquid sealant. Then, take off the tire pressure sensor nut and the sensor. For installation, clear the wheel opening of any dirt or debris in the grommet sealing area and insert sensor in the wheel hole with air passage away from wheel, install sensor nut while keeping the sensor body parallel to inside wheel surface and tighten to 7 N.m (62 lb in). Before reinstallation of tire, orient the mounting/dismounting head 180 degrees off the vale stem and 45 degrees counterclockwise of the vale stem at the bead transition area for engaging the tire/wheel assembly clockwise again in the application of the inside of the tire bead on the wheel rim for a repeat operation of the outside tire bead before setting the tire onto the wheel. Be aware that a service replacement tire pressure sensor is shipped in the OFF state where the internal roll switch inside the sensor must be closed by spinning the tire/wheel assembly at 32 km/h (20 mph) or more for a minimum of 10 seconds before the tire/wheel assembly can be installed on the vehicle, vehicle lowered, and tire pressure sensors learned.
