• Q: How to replace the alternator in 1.4L/1.5L SOHC and 1.4L/1.6L DOHC engines on 2007 Chevrolet Aveo?

  A: To remove the generator from 1.4l/1.5l sohc and 1.4l/1.6l dohc engines, first pull of the negative cable of the battery and the electrical connector of the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor from the air intake tube. If now remove the breather tube clamp, all other clamps to take off the air intake tube, then remove the battery harness connector nut from the generator and the generator shackle bracket bolt. Next, remove the serpentine accessory Drive Belt if the vehicle has got the power steering and air conditioning belts, then the generator lower bracket generator bolts nuts, and remove the generator very carefully. For installation, place the generator on the lower bracket, locate generator bolts, install nut and washers on generator lower bracket-to-generator bolts, and firm them to 25 n.m in the lower bracket (18 lb ft). Mount the generator and lower support bracket assembly onto the engine block using bolts (mount the generator to the shackle bracket using bolt and tighten to 25 N.m / 18 lb ft). Connect the harness connector to the back of the generator, connect generator lead to the battery, and tighten with nut for 15 n.m (11 lb ft) of torque. Lastly, reinstall the air intake tube and the connector; line up the iat electrical connector to the air intake tube, and attach the negative Battery Cable.
