• Q: How to replace the power steering pump on 2007 Chevrolet Aveo?

  A: Several steps are needed to change the Power Steering Pump including loosening the clamp after unbolting the housing of the air cleaner. Before belt removal you should adjust the autotensioner to loose the pump Drive Belt from its pulley. Start the replacement by draining the power steering fluid by unfastening pressure and supply lines from the pump next remove air conditioning (A/C) compressor along with its bracket. The steering pump assembly must slide out after you remove its retaining nuts. The pump belongs on the A/C Compressor bracket before mounting it while tightening the steering pump retaining nuts to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Reposition the Power Steering Pump braket back on the vehicle and connect its pressure and supply lines to the pump unit while torquing the pressure line union nut to 28 n.m (21 lb ft).
