2007 Chevrolet Aveo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the thermostat in a 1.4L/1.6L DOHC engine on 2007 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: As the first step to replace thermostats in 1.4l/1.6l dohc engines you must drain the coolant. First disconnect the upper Radiator Hose and throttle body coolant inlet hose from the Thermostat Housing before removing the Thermostat bolts and Thermostat Housing and the Thermostat. After removing the Thermostat along with the gasket examine it for cracks or damage and perform a visual inspection of the valve seat to confirm it is clear from foreign matter that could block proper seating. Apply a thorough cleaning treatment to the Thermostat Housing and mating surface before installing the new Thermostat by using the bolts and housing followed by a 20 n.m (15 lb ft) torque limit on the mounting bolts. Reposition the upper Radiator Hose onto the Thermostat Housing while securing it with a hose clamp followed by connecting the throttle body coolant inlet hose and adding fluid to your engine's cooling system.
