    A: First, drain the coolant to replace engine coolant Thermostat in a 1.4l/1.6l dohc engine. Remove the Thermostat bolts and Thermostat Housing, disconnect upper Radiator Hose throttle body coolant inlet hose from the Thermostat Housing. Remove the Thermostat and gasket, examining the gasket for cracks or wear, the valve seat for the presence of foreign material that may contribute to improper seating. Clean out the Thermostat Housing and the mating surface before installing it. Mount the Thermostat and the housing with the use of the bolts that must be tightened to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Secure the upper Radiator Hose to the Thermostat with a hose clamp, then put the throttle body coolant inlet hose back on and fill the engine cooling system.
