2008 Chevrolet Aveo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the water pump on the 1.4L/1.6L DOHC engine on 2008 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: Before replacing the coolant pump on 1.4l/1.6l dohc engines start with disconnecting the negative Battery Cable and draining all coolant from the system. Use timing belt cover replacement (1.4L DOHC) instructions for the 1.4l engine or timing belt cover replacement (1.6L (L91)) instructions for the 1.6l engine to remove the rear timing belt cover. You must start by removing the coolant pump mounting bolts which allows you to detach both the pump and the seal ring. Place a fresh seal ring onto the coolant pump before you coat its sealing surface with lubriplater(R). Position the coolant pump flange to match the rear timing belt cover recess before fastening its mounting bolts to 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque. The rear timing belt cover installation requires proper replacement steps; you must then fill the engine cooling system before reconnecting the negative Battery Cable.
