2007 Chevrolet Cobalt Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Fuel Level Sensor (RPO NU6) on 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: The starting point for Fuel Level Sensor (RPO NU6) replacement involves removing the Fuel Tank. Unlock the fuel sender lock ring by employing fuel sender lock nut wrench (J 39765). The Fuel Pump flange should be lifted with caution until both quick connect fittings and the Fuel Level Sensor electrical connector become visible. The operation begins with disconnecting the Fuel Level Sensor electrical connector from the Fuel Pump flange before proceeding to disconnect the Fuel Tank Vent Valve and the fuel filter quick connect fittings from the same Fuel Pump flange. Drop the Fuel Pump flange lock ring followed by removing the Fuel Pump flange while possibly detaching the ring from the flange base. The technician needs to get rid of the Fuel Pump flange seal. Frame the Fuel Level Sensor retainer by pressing its sides before pulling the sensor free from the Fuel Pump module. To install the new Fuel Level Sensor fit it onto the Fuel Pump module then allow the Fuel Level Sensor retainer to completely embrace its position. After installing a fresh Fuel Pump flange seal onto the Fuel Tank the lock ring should be installed onto the flange if required. Install the Fuel Pump flange along with its lock ring onto the Fuel Tank opening so their flange tab matches the arrow indicator on the tank. Follow the sequence with tank vent valve and quick filter fitting installation to the Fuel Pump flange before connecting the electrical connector for Fuel Level Sensor. After lower the Fuel Pump flange into the Fuel Tank position the knob of the fuel sender lock nut wrench (J 39765) to secure the fuel sender lock ring until you are ready to install the Fuel Tank.
