- Q: How to replace the muffler on 2007 Chevrolet Colorado?A: To change the Muffler, first, raise and sustain the automobile while making sure that you don't pull on the rear brake hose too far. Start by removing the nuts and bolts for the lower shock absorbers , as well as right rear leaf spring nut and bolt . Push in a piece of wood between the frame and the rear axle to allow clearance. Next, unbolt the Muffler to the Catalytic Converter, being careful not to use oil-based lubrication. Soak the exhaust pipe hanger rods with a soapy solution to make the removal exercise of the exhaust hangers easier, then pry out the hangers. To pull out the Muffler, slide it rearward away from the Catalytic Converter, turn it to counter-clockwise angle 90 degrees, and remove it from the vehicle gently. In installation underventilated installation, twist the Muffler 90mm counterclock wise, pass it over the exempt and push it until the flange come near the Catalytic Converter, where it is turned 90mm clockwise to the installed placement and shifted forward to bring the studs in line with the rear end Catalytic Converter, avoiding oil based lubricants. Use a soapy solution in the inner diameter of the exhaust pipe hanger and the exhaust pipe hanger rod to make the installation easier for the hangers and press the hangers over the rods. Install the nuts holding the Muffler to the Catalytic Converter, tightening with hands to the point of metal contact on the flange, and 45 n.m (33 lb ft). Reset the wood block , assemble the right rear leaf spring bolt and nut to 85 n.m (63 lb ft), then the lower shock absorber bolts and nuts at 95 n.m (70 lb ft). Finally, check the exhaust system for leaks and under body contact prior to lowering the vehicle.
