2007 Chevrolet Impala Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace battery cables on 2007 Chevrolet Impala?
A: It is vital to get cables suitable for the exact same type along with gauge and length when doing Battery Cable replacement. Disconnect the negative Battery Cable afterward proceed to open the terminal cover and loosen the positive Battery Cable terminal nut. Detach the positive Battery Cable terminal from the battery and then proceed by unclamping the ground wire bolt and wire from the upper tie bar. Detach the i/p harness electrical connector that operates the battery current sensor as well as the Battery Cable connector which links to the i/p harness electrical connector. The positive Battery Cable junction block lead nut and positive Battery Cable must be removed from the bussed electrical center (BEC) after the bec cover is taken off. Lift the vehicle in the air while supporting it. Following that, remove the front lower air deflector. First detach the Starter solenoid bat terminal nut from the Starter followed by removal of the positive Battery Cable from the Starter motor. The maintenance procedure starts with lower vehicle position followed by the removal of transaxle stud nut and Battery Cable ground which attaches to the transaxle stud. The right-hand rail must lose its Battery Cable retainers followed by release of Battery Cable retainers from the cradle. Finally remove the entire Battery Cable assembly. Before removing the battery current sensor from the cable assembly users must cut tie straps and electrical tape securing the sensor and hold together the cable branches to record the sensor position. Secure the battery current sensor onto the new Battery Cable with appropriate tie straps while ensuring the tape tab points to the positive cable terminal before wrapping it with new electrical tape. First secure both battery cables onto the vehicle before attaching retainers to their cradle and right-hand rail. Install the transaxle stud nut followed by its proper tightening to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). Install the positive Battery Cable on the Starter motor and tight the battery solenoid bat terminal nut to 10 n.m (89 lb in). The positive Battery Cable requires installation onto the bec followed by securing it using the junction block lead nut tightened to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Install the bec cover and join the Battery Cable connector with the i/p harness connector before reestablishing the i/p harness electrical connector to the battery current sensor. Finish the procedure by installing the ground wire and bolt to the upper tie bar while applying 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque and securing the positive Battery Cable terminal to the battery through its 15 n.m (11 lb ft) torque screw. Close the positive Battery Cable terminal cover afterward and link the negative Battery Cable.
