2008 Chevrolet Impala Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Battery Cable (RPOs LZE/LZ4/LZ8) on 2008 Chevrolet Impala?
A: Begin the Battery Cable replacement by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable before you open the positive cable terminal cover and loosen its terminal nut. Unplug the positive end of the Battery Cable from the battery before taking off the ground wire bolt and wire from the upper tie bar attachment point. Disconnect the i/p harness electrical connector from the battery current sensor and the Battery Cable connector from i/p harness plug-in. Open the bec cover to access and disconnect the release nut and positive Battery Cable on top of the junction block. Lift the vehicle and take out the front lower air deflector before removing the Starter solenoid bat terminal nut and the positive Battery Cable from the corresponding components. Set the car at ground level to detach transaxle stud nut and Battery Cable ground wire from attachment points. Detach the clips holding the battery cables at the right-hand rail and from the cradle. Slide out the entire Battery Cable set from the vehicle. Remove the Battery Sensor tape and straps before pushing the Battery Cable branches together to take off the battery current sensor. For battery installation when replacing the cable set place the sensor on the Battery Cable. Put the tape tab towards its positive end before adding fresh connections to fix the battery current sensor securely. Mount the Battery Cable unit to the vehicle while attaching the positive and negative restraints to their support brackets. Prior to this install the transaxle stud nut over the Battery Cable ground . Fix the Battery Cable ground to the transaxle stud and tighten its stud nut to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). After lifting the vehicle again you should attach the positive Battery Cable to the Starter motor and tighten the Starter solenoid bat terminal nut to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Affix the lower front air deflector as you drop the car and connect the positive battery trace to the battery energy converter (BEC) then secure its nut at 10 n.m (89 lb in). Plug the Battery Cable into the i/p harness connector while setting the bec cover into position and linking the i/p harness electrical connector with the battery current sensor. Secure the ground wire bolt to the upper tie bar before attaching the battery terminal to the power source. Fasten the terminal nut tightly to 15 nm.
