How to replace the ignition lock cylinder on 2007 GMC Acadia?

In order to change the ignition lock cylinder, unconnect the negative battery cable. Take off the trim covers, rotate the cylinder to the RUN position and tap the retainer to take it off. In case of a replacement of the new cylinder, code the key accordingly and reattach the covers and reconnect battery cable.
