Q: How to replace the Power Steering Hose Inlet on 2007 GMC Acadia?
A: The first step for power steering gear inlet pipe/hose replacement requires removal of the right side Catalytic Converter followed by power steering fluid extraction from the remote power steering fluid reservoir. Install drain pans beneath the vehicle per necessity. The Power Steering Pump requires disconnecting of its fluid reservoir outlet hose while removing that hose from its bracket which connects to the power steering gear inlet hose. Begin by removing the bolt attaching the power steering gear inlet hose bracket after which remove and detach the inlet hose from the Power Steering Pump. First disconnect both the power steering gear inlet hose retaining plate bolt as well as the power steering gear inlet and outlet pipe clip bolt then remove the power steering gear inlet hose from underneath the vehicle. Begin by manually fastening the bolt and nut until each part properly locates itself before conducting torque torques according to measurements. Under the vehicle attach the power steering inlet hose by aligning its end with the steering gear before securing it with a tightened retaining plate bolt at 9 n.m (80 lb in) and inlet and outlet pipe clip bolt also fastened to 9 n.m (80 lb in). You must install the power steering gear inlet hose first to the Power Steering Pump before securing the power steering gear inlet hose bracket with its bolt at 9 n.m (80 lb in torque) followed by torquing the bracket and nut to 9 n.m (80 lb in torque). You should connect the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose toward the Power Steering Pump before fixing it into position using power steering gear inlet hose bracket clips. After cleaning away remaining fluid from the vehicle the mechanic should place right side Catalytic Converter back in and complete power steering system filling and bleeding procedure.
