Start the replacement by drawing out as much power steering fluid from the remote reservoir as possible while disconnecting outer steering tie rod ends from the knuckles and removing intermediate steering links and then take out the steering pipe from the gear component. The technician needs to take out the rear propeller shaft together with the underbody rear side rails and frame brace, right side Catalytic Converter and steering gear heat shields. Before proceeding install position-adjustable jack stands at the rear of the front frame and put drain pans strategically. Separate the left and right front frame reinforcement mounting bolts then let the front frame reinforcement and mounting bolts lose while dropping the frame down to access the steering gear. The power steering gear inlet hose retaining plate bolt and power steering gear inlet and outlet pipe clip bolt must be removed so you can extract the hoses from the steering gear. The technician will disconnect the power steering gear outlet hose bracket bolt while discarding the crimp clamp then disconnecting the rubber segment from the metal segment while removing any plastic retaining clips before extracting the outlet hose from the vehicle.
