Q: How to replace the Power Steering Hose Inlet on 2010 GMC Acadia?
A: The replacement process for the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose starts with Catalytic Converter removal from the right side. The maintenance operator should draw out as much power steering fluid as possible from the remote power steering fluid reservoir before placing drain pans beneath the vehicle. You should first disconnect the Power Steering Reservoir outlet hose from the Power Steering Pump before unfastening the outlet hose from its bracket on the power steering gear inlet. The procedure requires disconnecting the power steering gear inlet hose from the Power Steering Pump after removal of the power steering gear inlet hose bracket nut and bolt. To remove the power steering gear inlet hose start by uninstalling its retaining plate bolt followed by removing both the power steering gear inlet hose retaining plate bolt and power steering gear inlet and outlet pipe clip bolt before pulling out the hose from under the vehicle. The installation process involves first using hand force to secure all parts before fulfilling torque requirements with the bolts and nut. Connect the power steering gear inlet hose below the vehicle into the steering gear before tightening the power steering gear inlet hose retaining plate bolt to 12 nm (106 lb in) and the power steering gear inlet and outlet pipe clip bolt to 9 nm (80 lb in). Clean the Power Steering Pump outlets then direct the inlet hose connection and apply torque at 34 nm (25 lb ft). Install the power steering gear inlet hose bracket followed by bolt tightening to 8 nm (71 lb in) and securing the bracket and nut with the identical torque of 8 nm (71 lb in). The Power Steering Pump service outlet hose requires reattachment to the Power Steering Pump while the hose should be clipped to the power steering gear inlet hose bracket for installation. Clean all residual fluid from the vehicle before putting back the drain pans and refitting the right side cataiytic converter. The power steering system requires one final step that involves fluid filling and bleeding procedure.
