2007 GMC Savana 2500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the A/C Accumulator in systems with an auxiliary system on 2007 GMC Savana 2500?
A: The first step for installing the A/C Accumulator in vehicles with an auxiliary system involves recovering the refrigerant from the a/c system. Cut the marked section of the condenser tube at 20 mm (0.75 in) from the bend then measure 42 mm (1.65 in) more forward to create another mark on the tube. Use a tubing cutter to cut the marked section on the condenser tube avoiding any metal burrs entering the tube when performing this operation. Put the burrs off the tube then insert the appropriate sized ferrules and nuts onto their respective sections of the condenser tube. Fix ferrules into the condenser tube with small ends toward the nuts before installing the A/C Accumulator where the flow arrow points toward the Evaporator. You should hold the condenser tube within the A/C Accumulator while tightening the nuts to 34 n.m (25 lb ft). Wrap up the A/C Accumulator nut removal by installing the o-rings to the condenser tube before fixing the nuts back to the accumulator while tightening to 34 n.m (25 lb ft). The final process involves reinstalling the condenser tube to the condenser while following up with a/c system evacuation and charging and conducting a leak test on fittings through usage of the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
